Hospital Sedation

Expert anesthesia

Dr. Amy Kinlaw Pediatric Dentistry provides general anesthesia only when your child needs extensive oral surgery that we can’t complete in the office. This form of sedation is perfectly safe for young children.

The benefit of this form is that your child will be comfortable and have no memory of the procedure. To them, they will feel as if they are in a deep, dreamless sleep.

Depending on the procedure your child may require aftercare as swelling and pain may be part of the healing procedure. Our office may also prescribe pain relievers post-surgery.

We must remain part of your care team as improper care can lead to infections and further complications. If your child develops a fever or the pain is unmanageable, call our offices immediately at 336.568.7700.

Routine care and exams are key to preventing surgery

In-depth oral surgery is rare and often the result of neglecting or ignoring common dental problems. Don’t take chances, schedule your child’s regular exam every six months and remember to have them brush and floss daily.

Other common dental problems can occur if teeth grow crooked or misaligned. This can lead to other problems such as overbites, underbites, teeth grinding, and impacted teeth.

Remember, the most valuable resource a child has to keep their teeth clean and healthy is you. If you lead by example and even brush with your children, they are more likely to develop brushing as a healthy, continuous habit.

Don’t delay – schedule your appointment with Dr. Amy Kinlaw Pediatric Dentistry by calling 336.568.7700.
